\huge\underline\red{Carbon:-}

Carbon is the forth most abundant element on Earth, found usually in combined state.In free state, it exists in the form of coal, charcoal, graphite,and diamond. In combined state it is present in many organic compounds (related to living beings) and all of the inorganic compounds (consisting of elements, minerals,salts etc.) We can also find carbon in all the three phases :

  • solid - lime, marble, calamine
  • Liquid - petroleum
  • Gases - carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide

There are more compounds that contain carbon than those that don't.

About 20% of the weight of living organisms is carbon.

In our bodies , organs, cells and internal systems all depend on carbon for existence.

Carbon has a unique structure that helps it to bond easily with other atoms and make up large complicated molecules.
