1.. Rashtrapati Bhavan also known as Presidential palace is the second largest in the world after the Quirinal Palace, Rome, Italy.

2. Took 17 years for its completion as its construction was started in 1912 and completed in 1929, around 29,000 people have worked.

3. It comprises of various gardens  of different shapes such as rectangular, long and circular. Most mesmerising sight of them was the Circular Garden having terraced bowl flower beds blooming with various colours.

4. Every Saturday at 10 am a ceremonial ‘ Change of Guard ’  ceremony held which is of 30 minute and open to the public i.e at the entry of Rashtrapati Bhavan you have to produce a photo ID.


5. It has been built using 700 million bricks and 3 million cubic feet of stones.

• The design of the building fell into the time period of the Edwardian Baroque,esign process of the mansion was long, complicated and politically charged.
• Rashtrapati Bhavan has many halls which are used for state functions and other purposes. Two of them, Durbar Hall and Ashoka Hall, are the most prominent.
• The Mughal Gardens are situated at the back of the Rashtrapati Bhavan, incorporate both Mughal and English landscaping styles and feature a great variety of flowers. The Rashtrapati Bhavan gardens are open to the public in February every year.
• In July 2014, a museum inside Rashtrapati Bhavan was inaugurated by former President of India Pranab Mukherjee. The museum helps visitors to get an inside view of the Rashtrapati Bhavan, its art, architecture and get educated about lives of past presidents.
