Answer:

hypothesis states a presumed relationship between two variables in a way that can be tested with empirical data. It may take the form of a cause-effect statement, or an "if x,...then y" statement. The cause is called the independent variable; and the effect is called the dependent variable.

The relation between the dependent and independent variable are as follows:

  • The variable that is used and tested in a scientific procedure is called a Dependent variable
  • Whereas the independent variables are the ones that stand independently or the variables that formed by some procedures in dependent ones
  • The main relationship between these two variables is they are related to each other
  • There will be the influence of independent variables in the dependent ones
  • And the dependent variables are regarded as the result of independent variables
  • The independent variable has a direct effect on the dependent variable and both can be identified by some experimental research
  • The independent variables include the different types of drug and psychological treatment whereas the eating behavior and smoking behavior comes under dependent variables
  • Likewise the depression symptoms is an example for dependent variable whereas the type of therapy is the example of the independent variable
