Answer:

An extensive parameter, like Internal Energy (U), Entropy (S), Volume (V), or Number of Particles (N), are parameters that 'scale with the system'. ... An intensive parameter, like temperature (T), pressure (P), or chemical potential (μ), are parameters that DON'T 'scale with the system'.

Hope it helps you

Answer:

  • ptimizations have been previously performed at LCLS for the 1.6-cell BNL/SLAC/UCLA gun in both the cases, i.e. 140 MV/m [6] and 120 MV/m [8]. Although our design is similar to that of LCLS, independent parameter optimizations were necessary for at least two reasons:

  • Different RF frequency: 2998 MHz vs. 2856 MHz

  • Different simulation tool: ASTRA vs. PARMELA

  • Beam dynamic simulations were preceded by detailed electromagnetic studies of both these guns using SUPERFISH. In the course of these studies, the 1.6-cell gun was scaled to the ELETTRA linac operating frequency of 2998 MHz. Both guns are shown in Fig. 2 and some basic parameters are reported in Table 1. In contrast to the BNL/SLAC/UCLA gun, the TUE gun has an ideal rotational symmetry due to axial coupling of RF power.
