Answer:

bile juice is secreted by the hepatic cells of liver and they are stored in pancreas the bile juice is responsible for the alkaline medium of the food when it moves away from acidic medium stomach

presence of bile juice or fragments of bile juice called urochrome is responsible for the yellow colour of the faeces

Since bile increases the absorption of fats, it is an important part of the absorption of the fat-soluble substances, such as the vitamins A, D, E, and K. Besides its digestive function, bile serves also as the route of excretion for bilirubin, a byproduct of red blood cells recycled by the liver.

Bile helps in emulsification of fats. i.e., breakdown of fats in smaller fat globules. Another role of bile is activation of lipase, enzyme required for digestion of fats. Bile emulsifys fat and turns it into smaller portions. Thus it helps in absorption of lipid.Bile breaks down the large fat molecules so the can pass through the gut wall. This also makes it possible for the lipids (small fat molecules) to travel in the blood stream.

FUNCTIONS OF BILE

1. Emulsification of Fat for its Digestion & Absorption: Bile salts present in bile are required for emulsification of fats for the purpose of their digestion & absorption.

2. Bile (Bile salts) is also required for intestinal absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E & K).

3. Bile (HCO3- ions) neutralizes gastric acid that enters small intestine from stomach.

4. Bile salts are CHOLERETIC (a substance, which increases secretion of bile form liver) and have LAXATIVE action.

5. Bile salts activate bile salt-activated lipase.

6. Bile serves as a vehicle for excretion of bile pigments, many drugs (lipid-soluble) like doxycycline, steroid hormones, cholesterol, vitamin D, alkaline phosphatase, etc.

7. Bile has also role in excretion of many heavy metals like copper, mercury,
