The frequencies of the lines in the spectra are analogous to those for hydrogen, but with the frequencies multiplied by Z2. This leads to the more general formula for the energies levels in a one-electron atom: En = –2.180 x 10-18 J (Z2/n2) for which hydrogen (Z = 1) is a special case.
