Speech 0f Indian farmer protest against three laws.
Answers
Answer:
The 2020–2021 Indian farmers' protest is an ongoing protest against three farm acts which were passed by the Parliament of India in September 2020. There has been a nation-wide court stay on the farm laws since January 2021. The length and scale of the protest, including a number of incidents such as the 2021 farmers' Republic Day protest, Lakhimpur Kheri violence and the lynching of an alleged desecrater by Nihangs have resulted in hundreds of farmer deaths and heavy politicisation. A stalemate had been seen between the central government and the farmers until November 2021. The situation has been worsened by the union government's inability to effectively communicate the need for the new laws, both to farmers and political allies, given that both Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and opposition Congress (INC) had farm reforms in their election manifestos. Related endemic legacy issues include farmer suicides and farmer incomes, and despite India being largely self-sufficient in foodgrain production and despite welfare schemes, hunger and nutrition remain serious issues, with India ranking as one of the worst countries in the world in these food security parameters.
