I think finding yourself is essential in life because you cannot connect to others when you are not connected to yourself, and knowing yourself is essential as well because you cannot find your path if you don’t know where you want to go. I never really managed to explain to people who expect me to talk about myself or make future plans why it is still difficult for me to do so, in a way they would actually understand it.
Most people are not expected to constantly fake an identity that is imposed on them by their surroundings within the sense of gender dysphoria. I just couldn’t picture myself in any hypothetical scenario at the time teachers started asking us for our plans after high school.
It impacted my interpersonal and intrapersonal life to extents I wouldn’t know how to clearly explain to them, aside from the fact the feeling of disconnection that I sometimes still have is most likely down to having been forced to live like a ghost in a way, pushed behind an image people wanted me to show them while I didn’t even have a clear idea of how I was supposed to act, let alone handle it.
