According to nutrition basics, it is important to consume natural foods which are unprocessed and do not contain artificial additives for color, flavor, and for preservation.
Food additives are materials that are added to improve the shelf life, flavor, taste etc. Natural food additives like salt and vinegar do not cause much harm when compared with the artificial preservatives and additives.
Few artificial additives include saccharine and aspartame which are used as artificial sweeteners, corn starch and wax as food stabilizers, artificial food colors, nitrates and antibiotics injected in meats, sulphites in vegetables and beverages.
