A very good morning to the honorable judges, chairperson, respected time keeper, teachers and my fellow friends. In this fine morning, I would like to use this golden opportunity to present a speech entitled Facebook Kills Face To Face Conversation Skills.
How many of you don’t have a Facebook account? I think I will be the only one to raise my hand because I don’t have any. This obviously shows that most of us are addicted to Facebook until it becomes a necessary requirement in our daily life. But have you ever realize that a single Facebook account could kill our face to face conversation skill with 100s of people?
Facebook was once created by Mr. Mark Zuckerberg in 2004 only as a social networking site that makes it easy for us to connect and share with our family and friends online. On those days, Facebook was originally designed for college students as Mr. Mark Zuckerberg himself was enrolled at Harvard University. By 2006, anyone over the age of 13 with a valid email address can enter Facebook. Unexpectedly, today Facebook has become world’s largest social with more than 1 billion users
What is so special with Facebook that makes it more famous than Angelina Jolie in just less than 15 years? Easy. It allows us to make many new friends and always keep in touch with them via online. We may have hundreds of friends on Facebook, but these 'friends' are not always the ones that stand up for us and stand by us.Now, can you guess why am I keep on saying that Facebook kills face to face conversation skills? So, my first point here is that those people who pull us through the dark chapters of our lives are rarely met on social media, they are the ones that we spend our time with in the real world. Friends on the virtual world seem to be great but they may be completely different in the real world. So, by talking to such people on the Internet, we waste time that could be spent with our actual friends.
