Answer:

Gradually, the British became more and more powerful and spread their rule over the whole of India. The people of India were dissatisfied with the British rule.

The British ruled over India to suit their own needs.

They bought the Indian goods at low prices

They did not allow the Indian craftsmen and farmers to sell their gods to anyone else.

The Indian farmers and craftsmen became poorer and poorer while The East India Company became richer and richer

All the wealth of India was being taken away to Britain

The British ruled over India for more than 200 years!!!

The dissatisfaction and anger of the Indians burst out in the form of a Revolt in 1857 . The revolt began when a few soldiers in Meerut

Refused to obey orders given by their British officers. The British introduced a new rifle called the Enfield Rifle. There was a rumour that the cartridges of this rifle was greased with the fat of cows and pigs. This hurt the religious

Feelings of both Hindus and Muslims. So the soldiers refused to obey their officers. The revolt soon spread to other parts of India
