Nature has been around as long as the earth has. It creates its own sense of beauty, allows for wildlife to flourish, and is the home of many creatures. The environment around us, plays a major role in our lives whether we realize it or not. It influences who we are, how we live, where we can live, provides us with mean of support, as well as gives us something beautiful to look at. With everything nature has to offer us, we as a society take so much away from it without giving much back to it. Our race, and the recent generation have become greedy and take more away from it than we should, or ignore the fact that it is something amazing. Many fail to realize that even though a garden is something beautiful to look at, it isn't the same as a few acre wide nature preserve. I have always had a great love and appreciation for nature. Since the time I was young, I spent most of my day’s outdoors, at the park, or in my grandparent’s village in the Northern Mountains of Greece. It has always been something I have admired for its beauty, its selflessness, and presentation of itself to the world around us. The natural landscape, folds, twist, bends, curves, and colors of nature are enough to entice anyone to look. Its selfless giving of the fruits of its earth, the use of its land, the abuse it takes, and the creatures it cares for is a beautiful and not always understandable parasitic relationship. The way it presents itself, for others to look at, creatures to make a home of, and for this generation to take photos of, reflects on what it has to offer, and what it is not being given back in return. Even though all these statements reflect the positives of nature, and play it up to be a great treasure, do we even really know what nature is? We have ideas in our head of gardens, parks, and small preserves and call that nature because we can observe the grass, the bugs, and the flowers.
