In this day and age of computers, there is a great need for resources for parents, educators and children for staying safe online. Knowing the dangers helps prevent children from being harmed, and knowing what to do online to keep safe is a must.
“Increase access to these technologies make people especially children and adolescents in danger and exposed to any forms of cyber violence (i.e. hate-speech, threats, stalking, harassment, sexual remarks, vulgar language and cyber bullying)”
With the increase in use of these technologies Cyber bullying has become increasingly common, especially among teenagers.
“Cyber bullying means the use of Information Technology to harm or harass other people in a deliberate, repeated, and hostile manner.”

“Cyber bullying happen when a child or adult is threatened, harassed, humiliated, embarrassed or otherwise targeted by another child or adult using the Internet, interactive and digital technologies or mobile phones.
Cyber bullying is usually not a one time communication, unless it involves a death threat or a credible threat of serious bodily harm. Kids usually know it when they see it, while parents may be more worried about the lewd language used by the kids than the hurtful effect of rude and embarrassing posts.
Few empirical studies in educational contexts have been conducted around the globe. A first series of surveys during 2000 and 2005 yielded some empirical data on the increasing trend in cyber violence and the escalation of cyber bullying. Most investigate children in middle schools or adolescents and are concerned with the tools of cyber bullies, the extent of the abuse, its frequency and duration, the anonymity and profile of the perpetrator, the level of reporting and attention from the authorities.
There many ways to keep our children safe online and protect them from dangers. As teacher I should get to know the various issues to do with Internet safety before I enter the classroom. Also, I should to be familiar with all applications children use on the Internet.
Moreover, we should understand what applications, filters and child protection software is installed the school computer systems.
Furthermore, “Teacher should avoid letting students search and wander – they could end up entering areas that are unsafe, and may see things that they should not be viewing. Select a few sites of interest and stay focused.
