Good morning everyone present. I feel immensely privileged

to have got the opportunity to express my views on ‘Value education contributes

in controlling corruption’.  Life without

values education is like ship without rudder. Values work as guidance system

and help us reach our destination. Value education builds character by

instilling in human mind values such as patience, honesty, tolerance, sympathy,

and love for fellow brethren and sisters. A man of high values can never do any

corruption in anything.

A man of values always does what is ethical and right.

Values give us courage and strength to resist the evil that always takes us to

embarrassment.  Ethical behavior is

contagious. It attracts everyone’s attention. Everyone appreciates ethical

practices. Values ensure eradication of corruption. Values purify one’s

thoughts and character.

Corruption is an evil that everyone inherits by default in

one’s nature. Everyone instinctively works for one’s vested interests, at times

compromising with what is usually right. Suppose there is an ethical person in

an organization, his presence and way of working becomes a standard of

acceptable behavior for others. His team members or fellow workers who indulge

in corrupt practices have to be careful, forcing them to be ethical and honest.

Unethical and corrupt people are immediately fired or suspended.

Ethics are in high demand. Even dishonest people love to

have ethical employees. They trust only ethical people working for them.  The

managers, CEOs, Directors, or Managers expect the people working under them to

be ethical. Whenever incentives, salary raise or any other promotion is to be

given out, ethics and performance are the basic criteria.

Thus ethical persons in an organization motivate everyone to

be ethical that indirectly discourages corruption.
