dear friends,
i read a report in a newspaper that a large number of wild animals would be extinct by 2050 and became concerned. does it not ring alarm bell? i asked myself who is driving them towards extinction? i did some research and realised, poaching, which is killing of animal illegally because it possesses something that is considered valuable, such as fur, ivory, hide, claws, tusks, horns etc. was one of the major reason. in spite of laws against poaching and illegal trade of wild animals, why does this continue unabated? unprecedented hike in illegal wild trade is today threatening to overcome decades of conservation gains. poverty, greed and corrupt forest officials are letting the criminals thrive fearlessly. run by dangerous international network, wildlife and animal parts are being trafficked much like illegal drugs and arms, making wildlife crime a big business. lacunae in laws, corruption, light sentences, weak judicial system make these poachers plunder wildlife indiscriminately. the result is death and damage to a variety of species pushing them to the verge of extinction. little do we realise the heavy prize which we will have to pay in future.so friends, let us contribute our might through articles and other literary art forms, in conserving the variety of species on this beautiful planet.
thank you.
