                                   Generation Gap Destroying Families

Good morning everyone present. I am going to expatiate on the topic ‘Generation Gap Destroying Families’.  Generation gap is a worldwide phenomenon found in all times and all climes. Generation gap is nothing but a clash of ideas between the people belonging to two different generations. In most of the cases this clash of ideas is between the old and the young. The old or experienced people develop a wiser outlook on life which the youngsters find to be outdated thinking.

On the other hand, the youngsters with no experience on their side love to enact impulsively, emotionally following instincts more than rationality and logic. For example imagine a family is travelling to some distant place by car. The young son will love to drive faster as it gives him thrill. However, the father and the grandfather will insist on driving at reasonable speed because they know the faster the speed the more the chances of accident.

So this difference of thinking about the same issue is known as generation gap. It exists in all families and institutes where older and younger people coexist. The best way to deal with this problem is the older people’s attitude. They must try to make their points clear to the younger people patiently and amiably, keeping the age factor in mind.

I personally feel generation gap is really undermining families. The youngsters in the name of going abroad or working in metropolitan cities are leaving their families. Though after living a lonely life of few months or years they get disillusioned about the charms of living away they realize how indispensable families are for being happy and complete.

On the other hand there are families based on strong values where generation gap has little influence. In such families, there might be differences in thinking, but there can never be any adverse effects on the members. The elders are quite adjustable; they adapt to the requirements of the younger generation and solve all the issues. Soon the young children also grow into adults and their attitude and understanding undergo a change. Sooner or later they learn family is an integral part of life without which life is full of challenges.
