It takes a little awareness and some determination to take the right step. My pledge to help local vendors is not just a whim, but a small decision that can have great consequences at the local, national and even global level.

During these pandemic times, so many people are struggling to make ends meet. Many have lost their jobs and many others are unable to get enough customers. At a time like this, buying locally can financially help those who need it the most- the local vendors. Instead of ordering from big established brands, it is logical for us to support those who need it the most. This will improve things for the local vendors, save them from becoming desperate and taking to crime. Thus, buying local products indirectly reduces the crime rate.

Additionally, at a national level, purchasing from the local vendors keeps our money within the nation. Many e-commerce sites that are doing business in India, have foreign backing. This means that when we order from them, we willingly give our money to other nations, instead of supporting our own people. Unfortunately, some of these nations use the same money to finance military action against our nation. Thus, it is extremely important to keep the funds in circulation within our nation. Therefore, buying from local vendors directly helps revive the national economy and indirectly builds our nation.

Further, buying locally means lesser transportation of goods. This translates to lesser vehicle usage and reduced emission of greenhouse gases. Hence supporting the local vendors also means a reduction in environmental issues.

Looking at all the benefits of supporting the local vendor, it is evidently a pledge that can make a big impact. It is time to be a responsible citizen. Think about it and take the pledge too, for it is up to us, how we want to shape the nation’s future.
