It really depends on when your body's ideal sleep time is. Your body has something called a cicardian rythm. This dictates when your body will feel best going to sleep. For most adults this will be in between 8:00 PM and 12:00 AM. You can try to find your body's ideal sleep time by waking up in the morning naturally without an alarm clock and counting back 8hrs. Try this a few times and you should find it. As far as staying up late and waking late, this will give you less restful sleep then going to bed at a reasonable time.
