In my opinion mystery fiction can be said to be a sub set of science fiction.
I know you might be thinking that I'm writing nonsense since these are two different categories but hear me out.
In science fiction, all the technology and gadgets are made for the purpose of helping our civilization in achieving a better life .In the beginning, everything is a mystery. We don't know what is needed to make our life better, we don't know how we will accomplish this seemingly impossible task. But science fiction always finds a way to solve these mysteries.
