Explanation:

Honourable principal, Respected Teachers and My Dear Friends,

The tiger, our national animal, is one of nature’s most magnificent bests. But it is sorely in danger of extinction. There are hardly 3,500 tigers left in the last ten years alone about 750 tigers were killed for their bones, skins and heads.

In my view, poaching is an inhuman crime and no amount of punishment is too severe for these criminals. In an age when we teach our children not to throw stones even at doges, the killing of tigers for selfish interests or for mere sport seems appalling. There is no doubt that the people involved are doing so with the connivance of political leaders in the area. I appeal to NGOs to bring such activities to light, to put spotlight on the heinousness of their crime, and to see that those who are involved in the killing of one of nature’s most majestic creatures, the tiger, are punished. India cannot afford to turn its back to the problem, because more than 60 pre cent of the world’s tigers are found here. So it is time to act and I appeal to everyone to participate in this ‘Save the Tiger’ campaign .
