★ What is sugar?
Sugar is a sweet substance which is in the form of crystalline, obtained from various plants, especially sugar cane and sugar beet, consisting essentially of sucrose and used as a sweetener in food and drink.
★ Why do we use sugar?
We use sugar to sweeter the food and drinks. Mostly it is used in all varieties of sweets, chocolates, drinks, foods and etc...
★ What are the types of sugar?
As we know there are 5 types of sugars.
- Fructose:- It is found in fruits and honey.
- Galactose:- It is found in milk and dairy products.
- Glucose:- It is found in honey, fruits and vegetables.
- Lactose:- It is found in milk, made from glucose and galactose.
- Maltose:- It is found in barley.
- Sucrose:- It is made up of glucose and fructose and found in plants.
★ What is the Importance of sugar?
Sugars are substances that occur naturally in food. When we eat them, the body converts them into energy. Plants produce sugars and starch to provide themselves with energy. Hence, sugar is important to get energy for our body.

As we all know The August 2013 National Geographic article "Sugar Love" by Rich Cohen collected some strong and powerful quotations from experts, describing sugar as a slow poison.
Here we have some small stories about sugar!!
★ Once Richard Johnson a nephrologist at the University of Colorado Denver was talking to Richard Cohen in his office in Aurora. He asked, "Why is it that one -third of adults over the world have high blood pressure and When in the year 1900 only 5 percent had high blood pressure." And again he asked "Why did 153 million people had diabetes in 1980, and now we're up to 347 million, Why?. Why are more and more Americans overweight? He said we believe, sugar is one of the culprit, or if not the major culprit."
★ Haven Emerson at Columbia University pointed out that a remarkable increase in deaths from diabetes between 1900 and 1920 corresponded with an increase in sugar consumption.
★ In 1960s it was found that the increase in obesity, fat, diabetes and heart diseases was due to sugar. One of the nutrition expert found by the sample test of animal blood. That due to increasing sugar level in blood, it leads to diabetes and heart diseases and even obesity.
