The definition of Adventure varies from person to person. It is in actually defined as ‘a risky undertaking of unknown outcome’ which means that an adventurer is one who gets a thrill out of exploits, the result of which may also be dangerous or if in favour, then sublime.

Some people consider their careers to be an adventure. Who would have thought that someone’s job would be an adventure. Police risk their lives on a daily basis, not to say that you need to risk your life to be adventurous. Lawyers, with the thrill of winning their case, or even the fear of losing their case, their career is adventurous. Fireman running through a blazing building to make sure everyone is evacuated.

Ever since human life came into existence on this earth, the unknown has in general exercised two types of influence on men’s minds. Either it has struck fear into their hearts or it has irresistibly drawn them towards itself. It is from among the ranks of the latter type of the people that the world has found its explorers, inventors and others who have led the way in various fields of human endeavor.

Adventurous experiences create psychological arousal, which can be interpreted as negative (e.g. fear) or positive (e.g. flow), and which can be detrimental as stated by the Yerkes-Dodson law. For some people, adventure becomes a major pursuit in and of itself. According to adventurer André Malraux, in his La Condition Humaine (1933), “If a man is not ready to risk his life, where is his dignity?”. Similarly, Helen Keller stated that “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.”

It may be activities full of courage, joy and excitement with potential of doing anything. It may create physical and mental danger to the people. People doing activities like exploring, skydiving, mountaineering, participating in sports, river rafting and so many are really great who keep themselves in danger all time.
