A tradition refers to an established method or practice, a belief or a custom which has been passed on to us by our ancestors. Rituals like sprinkling rice smeared with saffron to bless someone, and a bride kicking a container of rice before entering her new house after marriage, are customs and traditions which are not related to logic.
In contrast to this, modernism is more rational and has developed in recent years. Even though old is gold, sometimes the modern concepts have to override the meaningless traditions based on superstition. For example the dowry system, sati, purdah system, child marriage were a cause for unhappiness and suffering for the masses. Similarly the caste system and the belief to marry within the caste led to rigidity and hardships. So they were replaced by modernism which allows more flexibility and leads to a happier society.
The world is always changing and to keep up with the times we need to adapt ourselves to the needs of the present. In olden days it was good for women to live within their houses and look after the household chores. Now with scientific advancement there are appliances to do every kind of work. Women are educated and need to express their talent and knowledge. The past traditions are no longer suitable to confine them to the house.
But there are some traditions which hold good even today. Indians have been known for their family values, the respect for elders and hospitality. Such traditions have everlasting value. They should not be given up in the name of modernism.
So there is a need for a balanced approach towards tradition and modernism. The positive aspects of both of them should be accepted and the negative aspects should be kept at a distance.

With the help of this speech, I would try to let you know about one of the issue nowadays .

Generation gap is a gapping between the current generation childrens and their parents or grandparents. There are conflicts in their thinking. The thinking is totally different from each other and that's what something which makes a difference.

Generation gap can be sometime bad for the two people living in the same house. There views won't match which will cause problems. The thing which will be right to one generation will be totally wrong for the other one.

This thing somewhat affects the relationship between them. So we should atleast try to make things better for the two generation and try to solve the problems. They should try to understand each other and respect each other's thinking.
