Often it indulges in thoughts and actions that are self-centered. In simple words, people suffering from this syndrome are selfish, avaricious, and dangerous. No good has ever been done by vain people. Vanity compels you to chase those fancies that are not only meaningless but expensive also. Let's try to understand it through the example of Mrs Packletide. She had the vain desire to hunt a tiger just to calm her jealousy against Loona. She spent so much time, money, and her other resources in planning, executing a tiger hunt. What did she get in the end? Only embarrassment, regret! The blackmailing by Miss Mebbin cost her dearly. So vanity leads to useless actions that turn out to be quite expensive.
