The result of that is people tend to trust you a lot. You prove to them that you are genuine. Being honest, it tells people to be what you are truly. It removes, without any shadow of doubt in the long run, any rumour about you.

People will like you or hate you for who you truly are and not for who they think you are. Being honest,you are free of guilt and have a good piece of mind.

But again, sometimes, being brutally honest is not healthy. Being honest and polite is appreciated.

And of course, there are situations wherein being honest is a problem. Some people can't take brutal honesty. Some people accept honesty.

Best thing to do is to avoid putting yourself in situations and with people with whom honesty does not work.
