Sports help us to stay fit, learn skills, develop strategies and plans. Everyone has their own favourite sport. Sports is an important part of our life, without sports life is nothing and Badminton is one one of such sports. Badminton used to be difficult for me in my childhood when the young adults in my society use to tease me by saying “This game is not for the kids like you, go and play Ludo or Snakes and Ladders”.
Then I used to sit in the corner of the ground, watching the shuttlecock smashed from one court to another court with a rocket speed over the net. The high jumps to hit the shuttle on the opposite court and the speed of the racket bat, the nail-biting finishes off the match used to excite me so much that I was so much eager to play but I had no option left but to sit in the corner and watch them play. I went to my dad complaining about them and my dad explained,
Do it because they said you couldn’t.
This struck into my head and from that day I decided If I had to decide any one game to play in my life that would be badminton. Badminton is the game of legends, played in most competitive class level with all glamour and excitement, in a totally different environment. I started watching badminton on television with so much love for this game.
I started feeling like an adult because suddenly I switched from watching cartoons to badminton. I learned so many things. Pullela Gopichand, one of my favourite badminton sportspersons who had won so many titles those days was one of my role models. I use to try copying his styles while playing. Seeing my craze for Badminton my dad bought me branded rackets. I use to play a lot with them. As much I played with them, I use to also take care of them a lot like a mother takes care of her child.
