Introduction Human organs perform various activities in its daily routine. The required energy and oxygen to these organs is given by blood. Hence, blood plays a vital role in human body. But during some situations, human body require an external source of blood. When some people donate blood, this blood is used for the requirements of other people. 14th June is celebrated as World Blood Donor Day. Why is blood donation important? Every year our country require 5 crore units of blood, from which only 2.5 crore unit of blood is available. Even the worse condition is that there are nearly 8 main blood types. This indicates that the right type of blood must be available at right time and this is hardly possible in developing countries like India. So, to save a life of people, we must encourage people to donate maximum amount of blood to improve the situation. ” The gift of blood is a gift of life.” Advantages of Blood Donation: The best part of the blood donation is you will get blessings of the person, to whom your blood will be useful. One more thing is that one donor’s blood can be used by 3 to 4 patients, as the blood is divided into various useful components. So, you actually save more than one life by only one-time blood donation. Also, there are things of your use, that is you can get one free health check up. There are also some other useful facts like reducing the risk of heart disease and some type of cancers. So, we must encourage peoples to donate blood.

Some people havea great thought in their mind about blood donation but it is not harmful for our health, If we are fit by physical condition then we can donate our blood because someone might be saved their life.

Blood donation is definitely a noble act. Many clinics and hospitals constantly require blood for several purposes. This makes the idea of blood donation a noble gesture as it provides life-saving help to people and patients. On an average, human body contains approximately 4 to 5 liters blood that can be donated after every third month for men and every 4 months for women. Many people believe that blood donation is harmful for their body, however, this is untrue.

{Advantages of Blood Donation}

We cannot deny the fact that blood donation is a good act. It is not merely safe but also has several advantages :

Life-saver – Many people require urgent blood and by donating our blood we easily give them life. This is one of the biggest satisfactions one can experience. It makes us proud and can also give us a purpose of life – the feeling that you made a difference to someone’s life.

Refreshes our system– Having donated blood, our cell count goes down which leads to new cells regeneration. This is definitely a healthy process that defines that an individual is fine and fit. Our entire body freshens up and many of our health issues come to an end. Therefore, blood donation results in a healthier body that raises our life span.

Rise of quantity of blood– Blood isn’t merely needed in case of injuries or accidents but also for plasma or platelets required by a patient. In such cases, if adequate amount of blood is readily available in a blood bank, patients can be smoothly treated. Hence people should regularly donate blood to ensure an adequate availability of it for the needy at right time.

Proper diagnosis– Prior to our donating blood, hospital personnel make necessary diagnosis of cholesterol, iron content, hemoglobin, etc. Hence we can identify if all is normal. If all is well, the doctor allows us to donate blood.
