- speed is the distance covered in unit time

-velocity is the displacement covered in unit time
v =dispacemet/time
speed is scalar quantity such as a person is moving with speed of 2m/s this is speed but if we say a person is moving with velocity of 2m/s toward north this is velocity because it is vector so it is necessary to mention direction of it .
