Speed is a scalar quantity whereas velocity is a vector quantity.

Scalar quantities only have magnitude whereas vector quantities have both magnitude and direction.

Speed is calculated using distance and time whereas velocity is calculated using displacement and time.

For example, a change in the direction of the movement will change the velocity of motion.

Acceleration which is the change of velocity per unit time is also a vector quantity.
