Let the speed of boat x and current y.

Speed of boat with current=14
x+y=14 ....(1)
Speed of boat against current=8
x-y=8 ....(2)
Equation 1+Equation 2 we get:-
x+y+x-y=14+8
2x=22
x=11
Putting value of in equation 1 we get:-
11+y=14
y=3
Hence, speed of current is 3 km/hr
