10t = 8t + (1/2) [ 1 + 2 + 3 + ................+ ( t - 1)]

2t = (1/2)[ t (t -1) / 2]

8t = [ t2 - t ]

t2 = 9t

∴ t = 9 as t ≠ 0

∴ the second car overtake the first car by 9 hours.

Distance = speed of first car x time taken to overtake

Distance = 10 X 9 =90 KM
