Question:-

A speed skier registers an average speed of 233.7 km/h over a distance of one kilometre.

  • How long did he take to cover the kilometre?
  • Express his average speed in ms-1.

Given;-

  • Speed =233.7 km/hr
  • Distance that he has to travel= 1 km
  • so, distance = 1 km

Answer;-

(a) we know that,

 Time =\frac{Distance}{Speed}

=\frac{1}{233.7}

= 0.00427\:hr

=0.00427×3600

\boxed{\boxed{{Time=15.372\: sec}}}

(b) Speed is given as 233.7 km/hr

We have to convert this into m/sec

We know that 1 km = 1000 m

And 1 hour = 3600 sec

so,

233.7km/hr=\frac{233.7\times 1000}{3600}

\boxed{\boxed{{Average\:speed=6.4916m/sec}}}
