The ratio between the time taken by these two trains to cover the same distance would be 4: 3.

Given:

For two trains A and B;

The ratio of the speed of trains A and B is = 3: 4

The distance covered by the two trains A and B is the same.

To Find:

The ratio between the time taken by these trains to cover the same distance =?

Solution:

Here we will use the basic formula;

Distance  = speed × time.

Let, the same distance covered by both trains A and B be 'd' m.

By modifying the formula, we can also write;

time = \frac{Distance}{Speed}

i.e., For the same distance to be covered by them, we can say that time taken by them is inversely proportional to their speeds.

Therefore,

\frac{Time Taken byA}{Time Taken byB}  =  \frac{Speed of B}{Speed of A}

∴  \frac{Time Taken byA}{Time Taken byB}  = \frac{4}{3}

Hence, we can say that the ratio of time taken by the two trains will be in the ratio 4: 3.
