SOLUTION -:

U and 4u are speed of two cars at specific instant.

both cars stopped at the specific instant therefore:

for 1st car :

v = 0 , u = v , a = a , t = t

from v = u - at

0 = u - a ¹ t , a¹t = u

from v ² = u² - 2as

s = s ¹

s ¹ is the distance covered by 1st car before coming to rest .

0 = u² - 2a¹s¹

2a¹s ¹ = u²

one solving

2. \frac{u}{t} .s1 \:  =  {u}^{2}  \\  =  > s1 =  \frac{ut \: }{2}

For 2nd car :

a²t = 4u

=>  \: a² \:  =  \frac{4u}{t}  \:  \\

and 0 = 4u² -2a²s²

from EQ (iii) and( iv)

2.4u

____.s² = 16u²

t

or s² = 2ut

so,,

=> s¹

____

=> ut

______

2.2ut

= 1/4 = 1:4

Hence,, the ratio of respective distance is 1:4
