Let the three parts of the number be (a-d), a,(a+d) which are in AP.

Given that Sum of these parts = 67

a - d + a + a + d = 69

3a = 69

a = 23.

Given that product of the two smaller parts = 48.

a(a - d) = 48   ----- (2)

Substitute a = 23 in (1), we get

23(23 - d) = 48

23 - d = 48/23

           = 2.08.
