Given : split the number 750 into two numbers x and y so that the sum of 8% of the first number and 21% of the second number is 11.2% of the sum of x and y.

To Find :   two numbers x and y

Solution:

x + y  = 750

8% of x  = (8/100)x

21 % of y  = (21/100)y

11.2% of the sum of x and y.   = (11.2/100)(x + y)

(8/100)x   + (21/100)y   = (11.2/100)(x + y)

=> 8x + 21y  = 11.2x  + 11.2y

=> 9.8y = 3.2x

=> 98y  = 32x

=> 49y  = 16x

x + y  = 750

=> x = 750-y

=> 49y = 16(750 - y)

=> 65y  = 16 * 750

=> y = 2400/13

x  = 7350/13

Hence two numbers are  2400/13  and  7350/13
