Sponges are sessile, still they get their food that is present in water.Sponges have water canal system through which water currents enter. The food particles present in these water currents are then separated and taken in by some specialised cells lining the inner walls of the body of the sponge. So with each water current, some or the other food particles enter the body of the sponge and thus it gets its food in that fashion

Sponges have a special cell layer lining their gastric cavity known as choanderm containing choanderm which have flagella.these flagella produce rapid movement to cause water movement along with food from the small pores known as ostia.
Like this they are able to feed without moving.
