hi!

Sponge can be compressed as it contains air holes in it, which allow the air to enter and exit it when compressed and relaxed. and its called a solid due to its other chemical and physical properties which satisfies it to be a solid.

=》Sponge is considered to be a Solid because it's compressibility is due to the presence of tiny pores which are fully filled with air .

=》So, when we press sponge the air present in the holes gets expelled from these pores only .

=》 Thus, making it highly compressible.

=》 Even with its compressibility, Sponge is considered as a Solid .

=》 Solid has all the properties of a perfect Solid . Only by this property many people are confused .
