Sponge is termed as a solid even when it is compressible and bent. Sponges have small pores in which air is trapped. When you press the solid, the air particles inside comes out leaving the sponge compressible. However, when you take out your hand, the sponge comes back to it's original shape. Thus, solid changes it's shape and is compressible.
