Explanation:

The sponge is compressible because it is having minute pores in which air is trapped . on pressing the air is expelled. The sponge is matter and considered as solid because it has a definite volume and shape does not change unless compressed. A sponge can be compressed easily even though it can be considered as solids because they have minute pores in it which are filled with air.

Answer: SPONGE IS SOLID BUT STILL IT IS COMPRESSIBLE BEAUSE IT HAS HOLES IN IT WHICH HAS AIR TRAPPED IN IT SO WHEN YOU COMPRESS IT THE AIR INSIDE THE SPONGE COMPRESSES AND THUS THE WHOLE SPONGE GETS COMPRESSED
