A sponge has minute holes,in which air is trapped, when we press it,the air is expelled out and we are able to compress it.spongeis a porous solid.but in other words the property of compressibilitymeans an object is commpresed and it remains in that compressed shape until we apply force to get it back to its normal

compressible though it is a solid because it has a tiny little holes in it in which the air is there when we compress the the sponge the air is expelled out of it and when we release IT the air against take its original position
