1. Mathematics is my favourite subject.
(There is a 's' in Mathematics but this does not make it plural.It is considered to be singular as it is a particular subject.
Other examples of such words are :Physics, Politics etc.)

(we do not consider 'boys' to choose between 'look' and 'looks' instead we consider 'one of the'.)
