ΔAPB and square ABCD lie on the same base and between same parallels. ( opposite sides of a square are parallel to each other? ∴ar ΔABP = 1/2 ar square ABCD = 1/2 x 16 = 8sq cm.

Since every square is a parallelogram
∴ ABCD is a parallelogram

since ║ABCD and ΔABP lie on the same base AB and between same parallels AB and DC

∴ ar( ΔABP) = 1/2 (║ABCD)
ar (ΔABP) = 1/2 × 16
 ar (Δ ABP) = 8 cm²
