I think the above question should be like this : a² + b²

a² + b²

There can be two answers for this.

1) (a + b)² - 2ab

2) (a - b)² + 2ab

We can prove it by (a² + b²) = a² + b² + 2ab - 2ab

Taking (a² + b² + 2ab) - 2ab = (a + b)² - 2ab

Taking (a² + b² - 2ab) + 2ab = (a - b)² + 2ab

So, the formula of a² + b² is,

(a + b)² - 2ab or (a - b)² + 2ab
