Square each of side 6cm are cut off from the four corners of a sheet of tin measuring 42cm×30cm.The remaining portion of tin sheet is made into an open box by folding up the flaps.Find the capacity of the box

Breadth = 18 cm

Length = 30 cm

Capacity = Volume = lbh = 6 × 18 × 30

Answer : 3240 cm³

As the square of 6 cm is cut from four corners of the sheet, both ( the length and width ) gets reduced by i.e 2 × 6 = 12 cm

So,

( L ) Length => 42 - 12 = 30

( B ) Width => 30 - 12 = 18

Now,

( H ) Height which is folded up = 6 cm

So,

Capacity of the box = LBH

= 30 × 18 × 6

= 540 × 6

= 3240 cm³

Thus,

Final answer : The capacity of the box is 3240 cm³.
