stress is basically a pressure.

shearing stress = F/ A ( force / area )

( area = top of the square slab is considered.)

so area = 50×50 ×10^-4 m²=25×10^-2 m²=0.25m²

= 1/4

9× 10^4

shearing stress= ---------- = 36× 10^4 Nm^-2.
