Answer:

2√2 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given a square of side 2 cm

We are required to find the length of diagonal of square

Formula of length of diagonal:

d=\sqrt{2} a

Where a is the side of square

So, the diagonal of given square :

d=\sqrt{2} \times 2

d=2\sqrt{2}

Hence the length of a diagonal of a square whose side is 2cm is 2√2 cm

GIVEN:-

draw a square namely ABCD with each side 2cm

AB=BC=CD=AD=2cm

draw a diagonal from A to C

TO FIND:-

AC (diagonal)

PROOF:-

AC^{2} = AB^{2} + BC^{2}  (PYTHAGORAS THEOREM)

AC^{2} = 2^{2} + 2^{2}

AC^{2} = 4+4

AC^{2} = 8

AC = \sqrt{8}

AC = 2\sqrt{2}

THEREFORE,

DIAGONAL = 2\sqrt{2}
