\underline{Question} :

A square pond is inside a square garden of sides 120m each and the side of the pond are 20m each.What is the area of the garden excluding pond?

\underline{Solution} :

We know that,

↪Area of a square = {side}^{2}

So,

↪Length if eacg side of the square garden = 120m

↪Area of the square garden including the square pond = {120}^{2}{m}^{2}

= 14400 {m}^{2}

↪Length of each sideof the square pond = 20m

↪Area of the square pond = {20}^{2}{m}^{2}

= 400 {m}^{2}

Therefore,

↪Area of the square garden excluding the square pond=(14400 - 400) {m}^{2}

= 14000{m}^{2}
