Given : square root of 438.2 × 98.56 / (51.3)^3.

To Find : Evaluate using log table

Solution:

Let say

N = √(438.2 × 98.56 / (51.3)³)

=> N = (438.2 × 98.56 / (51.3)³)^(1/2)

Taking log both sides

log N = log ( 438.2 × 98.56 / (51.3)³)

log ( ab) = log a  + log b

log (a/b)  = log a  - log b

log aˣ  = xloga

=> log N = (1/2) {  log (438.2) + log (98.56) - log  (51.3)³ }

=> log N =  (1/2) {  log (438.2) + log (98.56) -3 log  (51.3)  }

=>  log N = (1/2) {  2.6417 + 1.9937  -3 (1.7101) }

=>  log N =   (1/2) {  2.6417 + 1.9937  -5.1303 }

=>  log N =  (1/2) {  2.6417 + 1.9937  -5.1303  }

=> log N =  (1/2)  {-0.4949 }

=> log N =  -0.2475

Taking antilog both sides

N= 0.5656

√(438.2 × 98.56 / (51.3)³) = 0.5656
