Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa(Study Materials) Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa was born on 18th February,1836 in religious Brahmin family of Chatterjee in Bengal at the village Kamarpukur in the Hooghly district.Also he was known as Jugabotar.His father was Khudiram and mother Chandramani his mother. In 1856 after died of his elder brother Ramkumar Ramakrishna took his place as priest of dakkhineswar temple. In the age of 23, he married 5 years old bride named Saradamani Mukhopadhayaya later she known as Sarada Devi. He has a vast knowledge like Ramayana, Mahabharata etc. He was very polite to people. His principle was "Worship of God as Mother". He was a Hindu saint,bhakta and the teacher of philosophy.He promoted Indian bhakti traditions. Through his life and teachings he made people realise that God alone is real and all else false, an illusion. His whole life was religion in practice. His devotion to God was complete and unique. His life has been an object lesson in piety, devotion to God, self-realization and the ideals and values of Hinduism.His school of religious thoughts led to the making of the Mission Ramakrishna Delhi.   He was a simple man with humble nature. Because of this simplicity he became great man. He also used to say that the truly wise man is always humble in nature. He was the man of knowledge. Ramakrishna had many great and distinguished disciples but Vivekanand was most prominent of these. His original name was Narendra Nath. His deep religious nature led him to the temple of Dakshineshwar where he became a worshipper and disciple of Ramakrishna after many hard test and trials of his guru. Initially Vivekananda argued much with Ramakrishna against image-worship, rituals and sadhana and wanted a direct proof about the presence of God, but gradually, he realized Ramakrishna’s true greatness and began himself to have visions and illusion in meditation. His close and preferring association with Ramakrishna totally changed his life and he himself became a great spiritual teacher, guide and guru. Vivekanand created Ramakrishna Mission in association with his fellow-disciples and monks. Ramakrishna was coming of Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar and Bankim Chandra Chatterjee's time. When he met them, they were deeply influenced and impressed by his extraordinary spiritual personality. Sri Ramakrishna say: "joto Mot Toto Poth" (many beliefs, many ways, but goal is one).He emphasised God-realisation, stating that "To realize God is the one goal in life." Ramakrishna found that Hinduism, Christianity and Islam all move towards the same God or divine, though using different ways: "So many religions, so many paths to reach one and the same goal," namely to experience God or Divine.Ramakrishna further say:"All scriptures - the Vedas, the Puranas, the Tantras - seek Him alone and no one else." The Vedic phrase "Truth is one; only It is called by different names
